Time-line for UK election results

With the Britons heading for poll today, investors remain on the edge and eagerly await the exit poll results to pour in late-Thursday/early-Friday.

Volatility will pick-up as exit poll outcomes hit the wires, with the pound expected to witness some aggressive moves on either sides, as vote counting will get underway.

Sterling braces for Thursday UK election

The first release of the national exit poll, conducted jointly by all UK media under the supervision of John Curtice of Strathclyde University, will be out at 10:00pm local time (2100GMT)

Actual results start to follow about an hour later:

First seat to report will be Houghton & Sunderland South at 11pm UK time (2200GMT)

Another 4 seats follow at 11.30pm UK time, 00.01am, and two at 00.30am

7 seats are declared at 01.00am

8 seats at 1.30am

In total 80 seats are expected to have declared by 03.00 am UK time (0200GMT)

And half of seats are expected to have declared by 05.00am UK time (0400GMT)
