EUR/USD climbs to fresh daily highs

FXStreet (Córdoba) - EUR/USD extended its recovery from 30-month lows and reached fresh daily highs above 1.2450 during the New York session.

The euro benefitted from the absence of concrete news of additional measures by the ECB and, following a period of hesitation around 1.2400, it pushed toward a high of 1.2454 against the dollar. However, EUR/USD found resistance at the 21-day SMA and pulled back a tad to currently trade at 1.2435, recording a 1.01% gain Thursday.

The European Central Bank refrained from announcing new easing measures at the last meeting of the year, but hinted at quantitative easing in 2015.

With the ECB decision behind, markets' attention now turns to the US nonfarm payrolls report scheduled for Friday 13:30 GMT. Consensus calls for a 232K gain in November following a +214K print the previous month.
